Amansala Resort: Tulum’s Eco-Chic Boutique Hotel & Beach Club

Amansala Beach and Wellness Resort Tulum

Amansala was the first place I ever stayed when I first arrived in Tulum…the very first night of what turned into my seven month stint in Mexico. More on how I ended up living in Mexico, here: Emily in Tulum. Things came full circle for me recently because I partnered with Amansala to help them launch their website’s blog. Check it out here.

Amansala is a classic, authentic, Tulum establishment. It has been around since 2002 and truly embraces everything that I love about Tulum from the hotel’s design to their programs. It’s a full-service, eco-chic resort that caters to visitors from solo travelers, couples, families, to groups looking to visit Tulum for a wellness retreat (like Amansala’s signature program, Bikini Bootcamp). Their room options cater to each of these groups as well. You can book a standard queen or king room, suites with multiple beds, or rent a casita, villa, or entire house.

Two of Amansala’s properties are located right on the beach. What I love most about their location is that you can pretty much walk anywhere you need to get to in the Hotel Zone, by beach or by taking the road (although I recommend taking the beach). It’s also located just far enough north on the beach road where it’s only a 15 minutes bike ride to town, and it’s right in front of the new road in Tulum that connects to La Valeta and Aldea Zama.

Amansala Grande (Hotel Zone)
Grande is the main Amansala property in Tulum. It’s the property with a pool, restaurant, multiple yoga shalas, as well as a spa and Temazcal across the street. If you are staying at any of Amansala’s properties, you will likely spend a good amount of time at Grande.

Amansala Chica (Hotel Zone)
Chica is essentially next door to Grande (there is one small property in between) and is a smaller, quiet, place with the same look and feel as Grande. Chica also has their own spa space and a rooftop with hammocks that is also used for yoga classes. Chica is set a bit further from the main road, so it’s also shielded from some of the noise on the street as well.

Amansala Townhouse (Pueblo)
This is a newer property by Amansala, and it’s located on the edge of town, across from Chedraui. Because it is not located on the beach, the price point is lower. My room was HUGE, way more than enough space for one person, but it was perfect. I felt comfortable, safe, and it was exactly what I needed. WiFi was also strong and never cut out - I often took video calls for work from here. I will say that when I stayed at this location it was a bit loud, because my window faced the street, but I slept like a baby every night, so the bedding must make up for it. The restaurant downstairs is Palo Santo. It’s a great place for digital nomads to work from.

If you find yourself booking a trip to Tulum, Amansala is a solid choice. You get the beach club, so many yoga and fitness options, great food, great location, and very nice rooms.
